By LaShanya J. Breazell – Lead Care Coordinator/Certified Doula - United and Guided
A Lifelong Commitment to Early Childhood and Family Advocacy
My journey began in the realm of early childhood education, where I spent more than 30 years shaping young minds and empowering parents as an Early Childhood Educator and Parent Liaison.
This role enabled me to engage holistically with families, understanding their unique stories and tailoring solutions to meet their needs.
These years taught me the power of education, not only as a tool for young learners but also as a resource for parents and caregivers seeking guidance and support.
The trust and connections I built with families reinforced my belief that true advocacy begins with empathy, listening, and unwavering dedication to meeting people where they are.
Expanding into Maternal and Infant Care as a Doula
In recent years, my focus has evolved to address the critical needs of maternal and infant care.
As a certified doula, I served with Black Mothers United, and currently with United And Guided providing free and compassionate support services to at-risk Black mothers and fathers during pregnancy and postpartum.
Through my doula work, I offered emotional, physical, and informational support to mothers with the inclusion of fathers ensuring they felt empowered and cared for during one of life’s most vulnerable and joyous moments.
Beyond the birthing room, I connected families to essential services such as housing assistance, mental health resources, employment opportunities, and educational pathways.
These experiences reinforced my commitment to ensuring families have the tools and resources needed not just to survive but to thrive.

Today, as the Lead Care Coordinator at United and Guided, I have the honor of working with a nonprofit that aligns with my vision for holistic, family-centered care. United and Guided specializes in CalAIM medical services, a groundbreaking initiative that includes:
Community Health Worker Services: Personalized support to navigate health and wellness needs.
Community Supports: Addressing social determinants of health through services like housing navigation and nutritional support.
Enhanced Care Management: Hands-on case management for individuals with complex medical and social needs.
Coed Doula Services: Supporting families during the prenatal, birthing, and postpartum phases with culturally responsive care.
These services are a lifeline for families, empowering them to overcome challenges while creating pathways to long-term stability and success.
